Zardosi embroidery is hand embroidery done by highly skilled artisans. The process involves tracing the design on fabric, by a process know as Chapaai. The fabric is then added to adda (wooden frame) for embroidery. Thereafter the fabric is stitched to patti (thick cloth) attached to adda and embroidery is done with the help of aari( needle). The embroidery process is similar to that of the sewing machine. After embroidery, the fabric is removed from adda and extra threads are cut. The zardozi hand embroidery is highly time-consuming and expensive. Depending upon the intricacy of embroidery the work can take from days to months to complete.
